"Reclining Female Figure" by Mary Frank, (Amer., born 1933) Ink Allied Artists and the NationalInk Wash Drawing, 1965, 10 9 16 x 13 7 8, signed and dated in ink, on warm white wove paper. Known primarily as a sculptor, Mary Frank has also been a prolific painter, draftsman and print maker. Aligned with her practice as sculptor are the brush and ink drawings she has made, many of the female figure, some with a simultaneous monumentality and intimacy; their mottled stone like textures evoking notions of ancient runes and landscape.
