Holger Koch, Pinot Noir Reserve Size:6x750mlThe 2018 Pinot Noir Reserve is remarkably fresh and spicy on the nose, with initially greenish notes intermixed with sour cherry and dark berry aromas that are even reminiscent of Cabernets. There is nice purity, precision and freshness, though. The wine is smooth and juicy on the palate, with fine, silky textured cherry and dark berry fruit that is intermixed with very fine tannins and toasty oak aromas on the finish. This is a tart, fresh and grippy

200-liter barrel made from the domaine's own trees and aged on the lees for 30 months (of which six were on the full lees)

There is excellent mid-palate concentration to the intensely mineral-driven and impressively rich medium-bodied flavors that possess a really lovely sense of underlying tension

The nose seemed to have closed down since I last encountered it in 2012

This is carrying more wood than I can warm up to but the density suggests that it will eventually be absorbed if you have the patience to wait
